What is Epitalon?

Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It has been studied in ageing-related laboratory research, including chromatin, telomerase and cellular proliferation.

Proposed mechanism

Cell studies report effects on telomerase-related pathways, chromatin state and gene expression. These findings are mechanistic observations, not proof that Epitalon slows ageing or extends human lifespan.

What has been published?

Older studies reported telomere-related effects in cultured human cells, and a 2025 study found increased telomere length in several human cell lines through telomerase or alternative-lengthening activity.

Current human evidence

There is no modern, large, independently replicated randomized trial showing that Epitalon extends healthy lifespan or meaningfully reduces age-related disease in humans.

Regulatory status

Epitalon is not an FDA-approved anti-ageing or longevity treatment.
